| Acknowlegement of Scholar All-America Criteria |
Each year a number of players are nominated who do not meet the criteria set forth for selection to the NSCAA High School Scholar All-America Team. The most common areas causing nominations to be rejected are underclassmen (non-seniors) and/or players who do not meet the minimum GPA being put forward for consideration.
Soccer achievements are the most important part of the selection criteria. In order to be a Scholar All-America the nominated player must be an outstanding player and be recognized as such. This not a “good kid” award. A player with a 4.0 GPA who comes to practice every day but plays only periodically does not qualify for this award. At a minimum, the player must have been recognized locally. In most cases a player must be named All-State to receive the award.
The GPA must be converted to a 4.0 scale if something other than a 4.0 scale is used by the school. Any entry in the GPA blank of the nomination form other than a value on a 4.0 scale will increase the potential that the nomination will not be considered. This requirement has been established to ensure consistency in the evaluation and selection process.
Below are the criteria for the Scholar All-America award. You must verify that you have read and understand the criteria before you will have access to the online nomination form.
