| Serving the Soccer Community |
The NSCAA is committed to serving the diverse community that is soccer in the United States and around the world. By providing interaction and support opportunities to various groups (such as coaches of color and female coaches), the NSCAA is at the forefront of service to members and non-members alike.
Member coaches seeking coaching positions need look no further than the NSCAA Job Listings. One of the benefits of being an NSCAA member is that coaches can submit their resume to the NSCAA's Resume Bank for matching with employers looking for individuals to fill in a specific position.
The NSCAA is attuned to the needs of its members. It recognizes the diversity within the organization and the community and is committed to serving its diverse membership. Because of this, several resource areas for the Latin American Soccer Coaches Committee (LASCC), NSCAA Black Soccer Coaches Committee (BSCC), the Native American Soccer Coaches Commmittee and the NSCAA Women's Committee are set up under Soccer Communities for its members.
Expanding the scope of its service to the coaching community, pages focused on the needs of Youth Coaches, High School Coaches and College Coaches also have been launched, providing a centralized source for communicating information of interest to these coaching groups and offering a Coaching Forum to allow free exchange of ideas and communication to address immediate and long-term needs.
As a means of fulfilling the NSCAA's Mission and Vision, a program was established in bringing soccer coaching educational opportunities to underserved socioeconomic communities, geographic areas and ethnic groups throughout the United States. Through the NSCAA Foundation, grants are rewarded to deserving programs and clubs.
The NSCAA is always evolving, and every opinion counts in making the organization work and serve their members better. At the NSCAA Survey Center, members can participate in surveys for various NSCAA programs.
The Official eNewsletter of the NSCAA, The Technical Area, comes out with a fresh issue every other week. The eNewsletter offers its subscribers the latest news about the NSCAA, exciting member benefits, as well as promotions and coaching tips from the top soccer coaches in the USA.
NSCAA Diversity Committee Formed Under the direction of former NSCAA President Louise Waxler, the Association appointed its first Diversity Committee, which will be a standing committee per the NSCAA's bylaws. The committee serves as an umbrella group over the already established NSCAA multi-cultural committees - the Black Soccer Coaches Committee, the Latin American Soccer Coaches Committee, the Women's Committee and a pilot Native American Soccer Coaches Committee. In addition to its oversight function, the Diversity Committee developed an NSCAA diversity statement, critique and recommend changes in the NSCAA diversity training courses and explore other programming designed to expand the NSCAA's commitment to diversity. Appointed to the committee were:
Charlotte Moran - interim committee chair, executive director of the Eastern Pennsylvania Youth Soccer Association and a member of the NSCAA Women's Committee. Michelle Street - women's coach at Howard University and a member of the BSCC.
Marco Santillan - DeAnza Force SC (California), NSCAA Academy Associate National Staff and member of the LASCC. Cela Shukie - America Scores, representing inner-city soccer programs. Alec Rekow - director of Southwest Youth Services (New Mexico) and chair of the NASCC. The NSCAA's First Vice-President (Steve Malone for the remainder of 2006; Al Albert in 2007) will serve as Diversity Committee liaison to the NSCAA Executive Committee, while NSCAA Executive Director Jim Sheldon will serve as staff liaison. Sheldon also serves as staff liaison to the BSCC, LASCC and NASCC. Steve Veal, NSCAA associate executive director, serves as staff liaison to the Women's Committee.
