How much do you pay your youth 'state competition' level club soccer coaches?

We have based ours on an avg 15 player roster, charging each player $25 per month and paying out 3 months in the spring and 4 months in the fall roughly $400 a month to coaches.
However, we've recently merged with another organization whose coaches are in the country from Brazil and are looking to make coaching their livelyhood and want more money.

What is a fair monthly wage for a youth soccer club coach who probably puts in 8-12 hrs per week in commuting/coaching/training state competition kids teams.

Thanks,

Utahfc... I would shy away from looking at measuring them by the # of hours they are putting in and lean more towards the expertise they bring to the development of your players.

You probably already thought of this but a few standards that will help you get a good feel for contracts are:

level of coaching license,
professional playing background,
HS or College coaching experience,
Past results,
additional speed, skill training or GK training through credible organizations or other certifications.

I used to coach in Southern California where if you wanted good coaches then you would need to be talking about anywhere from $800/mo. to $2500/mo. to 'you can't afford me' so don't even ask...

Coaches are an investment in the future of your kids and in many cases, you get what you pay for...

By-the-way, just because someone has a Brazilian background doesn't mean they are worth more or less than any other coach around.

The "Personality of Nationality" is great for summer camps and entertains the masses but developing players over time, handling parents concerns, dealing with the highs and lows of a game and a season require more.

If quality is what you are looking for then be prepared to pay for it. If you are just looking to fill a couple coaching spots and long term player development is second or third on your agenda then give the coaches a respectful stipend for their time and efforts but lower your expectations.

But, you said state level coaches so I would contact some of the other clubs in the state and find out what their general scale is and how they go about measuring value...

Good luck!
